Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Bust

This bronze bust of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stands as a permanent tribute to one of the most influential leaders of the American Civil Rights Movement. Installed in MLK Park, adjacent to the Plant Riverside District in Savannah, Georgia, the sculpture serves as a place of reflection, education, and remembrance.

The work was commissioned by Richard Kessler, founder of The Kessler Collection and developer of the Plant Riverside Complex, as part of a broader commitment to cultural legacy, historical recognition, and public engagement. The sculpture received formal approval from the King family, ensuring historical integrity and respectful representation.

Sculpted by Franco Castelluccio, the bust captures Dr. King in a moment of contemplative resolvehis expression conveying strength, dignity, and moral clarity. The realism of the portrait, combined with a classical sculptural approach, reflects Castelluccio’s mastery in commemorative bronze works intended for permanent public installation.

Mounted on a substantial stone pedestal engraved with biographical and historical text, the sculpture anchors the park as both a civic landmark and an educational site, inviting visitors to engage with Dr. King’s enduring message of justice, equality, and nonviolent leadership.
